Welcome & Bienvenue!

Thank you so much for stopping by my website. Please take a moment to read the excerpt for my latest young adult novel, Getting a Life, Even if You’re Dead. The book is a paranormal mystery set in the cemeteries and city of Paris. I love hearing from readers, so feel free to contact me via my e-mail address, which can be found under the contact tab.

I have been a finalist in numerous contests for unpublished writers, including a two-time finalist in the prestigious Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart contest. My novel, Getting a Life, Even if You’re Dead, has been a finalist in six contests. I would like to thank the many judges who have read and critiqued my opening chapters. The following are some of my favorite judges’ comments.

I thoroughly enjoyed your work! You have a unique voice, solid writing with beautiful imagery,
natural dialogue, a creative and compelling plot, great pacing, and original, likeable characters.
            --Lone Star Writing Contest

Really, you hooked me. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good YA! --Show Me the
            Spark

Outstanding entry! You have a very strong voice, intriguing plot, and the pacing is terrific. I have
every confidence this book will be published! --Published YA Judge in the Winter Rose Contest

Terrific job! Can’t gush enough. I especially love your sense of humor and very authentic YA feel/voice.
--Another Published YA Judge in the Winter Rose Contest

Hope this gets published. I work with teens and this would appeal to them. And to me too!
            --Show Me the Spark

I haven’t read a lot of young adult titles, but this book is something I would definitely read. I will
be checking out more young adult titles and hope that all of them are as well written and
interesting as this one. --Golden Rose

I owe an even bigger thank you to my teen readers group. The girls belong to a library’s advisory board committee and they have provided insightful feedback on my entire manuscript. Their enthusiasm has been awesome and a great boost to my self-confidence! Thanks girls! Here’s what they had to say about the book.

Pierrot is every teen girl’s dream.

I would’ve been Amber’s best friend if I’d had the chance.

I loved the characters. I felt like I knew them all real well. I would like to know more about
            Amber. She was so interesting.

I was always on the edge of my seat. I love this story!

You placed the ending on a good spot, which frustrated me because I want to read more, so I think
            you accomplished your goal there.

Your storyline is creative, unique, and at the same time holds the right amount of emotion.

When I’m not traveling for my job as an event planner, or tracing my ancestry roots through Ireland, I am at home in Milwaukee, working on my next novel, bouncing ideas off my husband Mark and my cats Quigley and Frankie. Thank you to my friends and family. Without their support, this book would never have been written.

Thank you for traveling with me on my road to publication!
